Explore Scott’S Chowder House

Scott’s Chowder House, located at 334 Grant Ave in San Francisco, CA, is a cozy spot that offers a delightful range of seafood dishes with a focus on chowders and lobster rolls. Situated near Chinatown, this restaurant benefits from a great location, perfect for a casual meal after a day of exploring the city. The menu is simple yet satisfying, offering an array of chowders such as the Boston-style clam chowder, smoked salmon chowder, and lobster bisque, all of which are flavorful and comforting. The lobster roll is a standout, packed with a generous amount of well-seasoned lobster meat, and can be served either warm or cold, catering to different preferences.

Good restaurant in a great location right by chinatown. A good value for 25 dollars for a cup of soup and a lobster roll. You also got chips and a pickle with it. It was a slow day and not hardly anyone there so not much noise and waitress was pretty attentive. Definitely worth a try if in the area.

We visited this place during 2021 SF restaurant week. We got the $25 Lunch that includes a cup of chowder and a roll/sandwich. We got the Scott's Maine Style Lobster Roll, Original Dungeness Crabroll, and Dungeness Crab Cake Sandwich. The bread was too buttery for our taste but overall decent. For the chowders - boston style clam chowder, smoked salmon chowder, and lobster bisque. We originally were going to go for just clam chowder but as I was questioning the chowders, the lady offered us sample cups to taste! I really enjoyed the lobster bisque. It did take awhile to get our order. And the portion is quite small. But it was a good try.

Definitely one of the most underrated and lesser-known restaurants for what they offer. The lobster sandwich has plenty of meat and is well seasoned. You can choose it warm or cold, depending on your preference. The chips are a bit on the hard side, but they’re well seasoned with paprika and clearly cooked in-house. The clam chowder is savory with a nicely balanced thickness. In my opinion, they also have one of the best coleslaws. I do think they need to clean up the restaurant and make it feel more polished, and then do a better job promoting themselves on social media. I really don’t want them to just go away.

Great food. The clam Chowder could've been a big more creamy and thick but could not complain at all about flavor. Had clam in every bite. The lobster roll also was amazing. Best I've tried thus far.

A satisfying meal at an incredible price. Scott’s Connecticut Style Lobster Roll was the perfect treat. Crunchy chips, coleslaw and a side of creamy Boston Style Clam Chowder was part of their award-winning recipe. Great dine-in experience. 7/10/24: Scott’s Maine Lobster Roll Combo. Another tasty recipe.
